3D Induced Polarization Technology Breaks Through Deep Prospecting, High-Performance Equipment Undertakes the Task of Resource Security

Driven by the national new round of prospecting breakthrough strategy, the capability of "deep prospecting" has become the core competitiveness of the industry. The 3D Induced Polarization Detection Technology developed by the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences has achieved remarkable results in this field. Relying on 150 full-waveform distributed receivers to build a high-density detection network, this technology has completed exploration tasks worth over 4 million yuan in polymetallic metallogenic belts such as the East Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang and Zhongwei in Ningxia, and accurately delineated more than 20 high-quality prospecting target areas. In the exploration of a gold-polymetallic mine in Xinjiang, the technical team used this technology to build a 2,000-meter-deep underground geological model and successfully located the concealed veined gold ore body. After drilling verification, a high-value gold ore body with a thickness of 5.2 meters and a gold grade of 3.8 grams per ton was discovered. This breakthrough fully proves that the signal stability and data accuracy of detection equipment are the key prerequisites for revealing deep-seated resources.


The 3D induced polarization technology system has accumulated 15 intellectual property rights, and its independently developed data processing software has efficient analysis capabilities, forming efficient synergy with detection equipment. In the exploration area of Beishan, Zhongwei, Ningxia, this technology successfully penetrated the 30-meter-thick backfill overburden to identify mineralization anomalies relying on its strong signal penetration. In the exploration of copper-molybdenum ore in the northern section of the Greater Khingan Range in Inner Mongolia, it delineated 4 high-value target areas by accurately distinguishing the characteristic signals of mineralized and non-mineralized anomalies. The development trend of such cutting-edge technologies provides important references for the R&D of geological exploration equipment, and will continue to promote the industry to improve its deep resource exploration capabilities, providing support for national mineral resource security.
